House Rules

Do you have questions about house concerts?  If so, this page is designed to help explain things.  However, if your question isn’t answered here, feel free to contact us.

What is a house concert?

A house concert is a great way to see nationally touring musicians in the intimacy of a living room.  Rather than going to a club where the music can be impersonal and the crowds uncomfortable, a house concert is a way to not only get to hear great music, but also get to know the musician and meet with friends, both old and new.

Why is there a “suggested donation?”

The suggested donation is to help pay the musician’s fee for playing the concert.  The house concert promoter (the owner of the home) does not make any money from the suggested donation.  It all goes to the musician.

Is alcohol served?

We normally don’t serve alcohol, but you should feel free to bring your own if you’d like.  We do serve snacks and soft drinks.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not allowed in the house, but it is on our screened porch or outside.

Are children allowed?

Absolutely!  In fact, kids under 16 are admitted free.  We want to expose the kids to great music and great musicians.  The only thing we ask is that the kids not act in a way that distracts from the concert.  Otherwise, we encourage kids to come to the concerts.

What kind of music is played?

We primarily lean toward acoustic folk, americana, country and bluegrass.  However, we understand that good music is good music, so we’re open to just about anything.

Do you sell CDs for the people who play your house concerts?

Glad you asked.  You can buy CDs from our featured acts right here.
